Seattle, WA – Parametrix has been recognized by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) for continued contributions to the Capacity Building Mentorship Program. The program “pairs successful prime contractor and consultants with diverse businesses wanting to do business with Washington state in an effort to increase their capacity and participation on WSDOT projects.”
Sound Transit has recently partnered with WSDOT to re-launch the program. The program will be administered by the Minority Business Development Agency – Tacoma Business Center.
Happy Longfellow, PE, Transportation Division Manager at Parametrix, has led the firm’s participation in the program, including developing a relationship with the protégé firm, Platinum Group, LLC and providing mentorship in marketing and business development, business planning, and core services development. Michael Horntvedt, a senior consultant at Parametrix, accepted the certificate on behalf of the firm at the program launch held at the Tukwila Community Center on Friday, April 12.
Parametrix and Platinum Group are currently working together on two Port of Seattle projects providing construction management at SeaTac International Airport.
“Our success with Platinum Group and the many other stories about small businesses receiving positive mentorship is the reason we are committed to supporting the Capacity Building Mentorship Program into the future” stated Horntvedt.
WSDOT originally created the program in response to the Governor’s diverse business participation Results Washington Goals. As of August 2018, 86 companies were enrolled in the program. WSDOT plans to evaluate the performance of the program in July 2019.
