I-11 Feasibility Study

The I-11 corridor is envisioned as a major north-south multimodal corridor that will provide enhanced transportation mobility and movement of goods between Mexico and Canada. The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) completed an alternatives analysis, identifying US 95 as the preferred location of I-11 between Kyle Canyon Road and Tonopah, Nevada. NDOT is completing a feasibility study to determine what specific improvements are needed to convert US 95 to an access-controlled interstate highway facility. This study involves:

  • Assessing existing deficiencies to meet interstate design standards
  • Evaluating potential realignment of US 95 around Indian Springs
  • Identifying potential property acquisition needs
  • Initiating and completing the planning and environmental linkages (PEL) process

The PEL process links transportation goals with community, environmental, and economic issues and/or opportunities early in the design process, affording time to develop potential transportation solutions that avoid, minimize, or mitigate impacts to the surrounding area. Parametrix is leading the highly collaborative process which involves state and local departments of transportation, federal agencies, resource agencies, and the public.

Parametrix created an interactive story map for the public to learn more about the project. Using our CivilFX digital twin model, we created still and animated renderings. The model was shown at the in-person public meeting.
