Vista Field Redevelopment

Vista Field is a new regional town center that aims to raise the bar for urban spaces in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The project is redeveloping the former Vista Field Airport at the commercial core of the Tri-Cities (Kennewick, Pasco and Richland, Washington) with easy access to a diverse and well-connected transportation network. A mix of businesses, residences, waterways, pathways, a public plaza, and other gathering places will reflect the local culture at full build-out.

Vista Field is being developed using a New Urbanism model – a neighborhood-scale planning approach focused on mixed uses, active public spaces, multi-modal access, pedestrian-scale streets, and a density of development not typically found within the Tri-Cities region. Once complete, Vista Field will have many distinctive features and look more like city blocks found within historic downtown areas with diverse local businesses, cozy neighborhoods, and public plazas.

Parametrix partnered with DPZ CoDesign and the Port of Kennewick to prepare the master plan for the Vista Field development. Through a public involvement process that included two week-long, on-site urban design charrettes, the team developed and evaluated three scenarios, then performed an environmental impact evaluation and developed the selected scenario into a master plan. Parametrix has since provided alternative analysis, transportation and utility design, survey drone work, environmental documentation, civil engineering, and landscape architecture for individual buildout projects.
